Review: The Rise of the Dawnstar was an enchanting book, complete with a beautiful new world, both old and new characters and a fascinating plot. Aurora, along with Rafe and Kalen, continue their adventure and somehow she finds herself in the magical land of Elfi, the home of the fae and is reconciled with her grandmother.  But some things go terribly wrong and now it is up to Aurora to save Avalonia from the clutches of Morgana and defeat her once and for all. There are lots of things I really loved about this book and I’ll list them down.

Pros: The descriptions are definitely one of the best things about the book. Each moment is described so vividly that the reader could almost see them. The new characters are quite a promising bunch as well and I just couldn’t wait till everyone meets Tristan (he’ll take your breath away). And damn! The descriptions of the delicious food never fail to make me hungry! (I must have gained about two kilos because of that 😜). Aurora grows up to be a more mature character, shaped by all the trials that she went through and I absolutely loved her depiction.

Cons: Of course, no book is complete without a flaw. I felt like the book was kind of boring till the middle but then it became quite fast paced and engrossing after that. Also, the amount of foreshadowing by Aurora makes some of the plot twists quite predictable.

Conclusion: In a nutshell, I liked this book a lot. The adventure (and those swoon-worthy guys) sweeps you off your feet.  Farah has definitely put lots of effort into it and I appreciate that. It does have its shortcomings but it is highly recommended for any fantasy fans and is also a worthy sequel of The Last of the Firedrakes. I cannot wait for the next installment in this trilogy.
